Speaker Series Line-up: Spring 2013 | The Business Ethics Society ...

BES Speaker Series Line-up for Spring 2013:

Thomas Donaldson

First up is Thomas Donaldson on Wed. Feb. 6. Tom?s topic will be ?Three ethical roots of the financial crisis.? He is the Mark O. Winkelman professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Director of the Zicklin Center for Business Ethics Research, as well as a founding member and past president of the Society for Business Ethics. Tom has lectured and consulted at many reputable organizations, such as Microsoft, JP MorganChase, Pfizer, and KPMG. He has made appearences nationally on the Today Show, CNN, and PBS, among others. His remarks have been included in the NY Times, Newsweek, the Wall Street Journal, and multiple other famous publications.

Next is Tom Gardner on Wed. Feb. 13. His topic will be ?Conscious capitalism and foolishness.? A frequently sought after investment expert, commentator, and educator, Tom co-founded the Motley Fool with his brother, David, and currently serves as CEO. He and David have co-authored several NY Times best-selling books, such as Million Dollar Portfolio: How to Build and Grow a Panic-Proof Investment Portfolio. He has testified on behalf of individual investors before the U.S. Senate on numerous occasions, calling for greater transparency in the financial services industry.

Third is Kim Sample on Wed. March 6. She will be speaking on ?Ethical decision making in a fast-paced and comples business environment: sometimes simple? always important.? Kim is CEO of Emanate PR with a unique model focusing on more action, transparency, and little to no intra-business bureaucracy. In six years she grew the company into a mid-size agency with $20M+ revenues, earning it the title Agency of the Year in the industry?s leading trade publication. Through her lengthy public relations career, Kim had helped build some of the world?s most iconic brands, such as FedEx, Best Buy, and Nokia.

doug rauch
Last comes Doug Rauch on Wed. April 17. He has spent 31 years with Trader Joe?s and served 14 years as President. He is the one responsible for growing the business from a small, nine-store chain in Southern California to a nationally acclaimed retail success story with more than 340 stores in 30 states. Doug currently serves as CEO of Conscious Capitalism Inc. and does consulting for several profit and non-profit companies. One of his present objectives is developing a non-profit solution to the issue of ?food waste? and hunger/obesity by bringing high-quality, nutritious food at affordable prices to the underserved in our inner cities.
