Sports media dynamo Bleacher Report launches for iPad (Reuters)

NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) ? Bleacher Report, one of the largest sports websites in the country, has hit the iPad.

The company launched both its Team Stream App, which offers fans curated news and analysis from various content sources, and its HTML 5-optimized website for Apple's tablet on Thursday.

The Team Stream App, already available on iPhone and Android smart phones, is one of the top 20 sports apps. The company is expanding its mobile presence in response to data that shows 30 percent of its traffic now comes from mobile platforms. That jumped from just 5 percent a year ago.

"Over the past year, we've seen a tidal wave in content consumption through mobile devices," David Finocchio, co-founder and VP of content and product at Bleacher Report, said in a statement. "Through this new tablet experience, Bleacher Report is moving to transform the way fans follow the teams and topics that they care about."

Launched in 2008, Bleacher Report is one of the fastest growing sports media properties on the web. It claims to attract 22 million unique visitors a month, though according to Quantcast it draws 12 million in the United States and almost 16 million worldwide.

It also syndicates its content to the Los Angeles Times, USA Today and other national newspapers.

Obama, DNC raise $68M in final 3 months of 2011 (AP)

WASHINGTON ? President Barack Obama raked in more than $68 million combined for his re-election campaign and the Democratic Party during the final three months of 2011, gearing up for a formidable challenge against his Republican opponent later this year.

The large fundraising quarter helped Obama's campaign and the Democratic National Committee surpass $220 million in 2011, bankrolling the president's re-election campaign as Republicans settle on a nominee. Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney raised $56 million for the primary through Dec. 31, his campaign announced Wednesday, far outpacing his GOP opponents.

Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said Thursday in a video to supporters that the campaign collected more than $42 million for the quarter, with the DNC bringing in more than $24 million, along with $1 million for a joint fund to help state parties in key states. The amount helped the president's team beat an internal goal of $60 million combined for the quarter.

Obama's campaign collected $750 million in 2008, prompting speculation that it could top $1 billion this time. Messina said the lofty figures have created "a challenge that keeps coming up. Too many Obama supporters think we don't need their money or they don't need to give now."

However, Messina said, "The billion-dollar number is completely untrue."

Obama, facing no primary opponent, has stockpiled a large campaign bank account, but Democrats expect parity with Republicans once the party chooses a nominee. Romney has been a formidable fundraiser and most party leaders expect a large amount of money to flow into his campaign if he sews up the nomination. Republican-leaning Super PACs have also fared better than Democratic-backed outside groups, further offsetting the president's fundraising.

Republicans have tried to paint Obama as more concerned with his re-election campaign than with his job of running the country. Republican National Committee spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski said "the White House may try to pretend the president isn't focused on his re-election but Americans know he's more interested in campaigning to save his own job than creating jobs for our country's unemployed."

Obama's campaign has emphasized a large number of donors and small donations generated from online giving. Messina said the campaign and DNC had generated 1.3 million donors, with 583,000 people giving during the most recent quarter. More than 98 percent were for donations of $250 or less and the average donation was $55, Messina said.

The money will help build Obama's organization, pay for a massive advertising campaign and let his advisers prepare for the upcoming campaign, a point the president emphasized at a large Chicago fundraiser on Wednesday night.

"If you're willing to work even harder in this election than you did in that last election, I promise you change will come," Obama said. "If you stick with me, we're going to finish what we started in 2008."

Harmon ready to tangle with Curtis on 'NCIS'

Jamie Lee Curtis is gearing up to shake things up both romantically and professionally for Mark Harmon?s Leroy Jethro Gibbs on ?NCIS? later this season.

?We haven?t touched on his personal life in awhile and we?re about to introduce a woman that?s going to get people going,? show boss Gary Glasberg told AccessHollywood.com on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association Winter Session 2012, when asked about future plans for the popular character. ?Just look for Jamie Lee Curtis.?

VIEW THE PHOTOS: Mark Harmon & The Stars Of ?NCIS?

So far, the actress has signed on for two episodes, and it appears that there will be a some sort of spark between Curtis? unnamed character and Harmon?s Gibbs.

?We?re prepping that episode right now. She?s coming into our world from a very unique government perspective and she will spar with him in ways that people aren?t used to,? Glasberg told Access.

The show boss noted it is a case that brings the two characters together, and unlike some of the other women that have come across Gibbs? path ? like Lauren Holly?s Jenny Shepard ? the two won?t have a history.

?It?s gonna be fun,? Glasberg smiled. ?She?s really excited about that.?

When asked about Curtis coming to the ?NCIS? fold as a romantic interest by Access, Harmon turned to his boss.

?A love interest? Is that what I am now with Curtis?? Harmon asked Glasberg.

?There?s a spark,? Glasberg chimed in.

Harmon, whose Gibbs? character has led the ?NCIS? team for (most of) nine seasons on CBS, said he hasn?t shot any scenes with Curtis yet, but he is looking forward to reuniting with his former ?Freaky Friday? co-star.

?Jamie?s great and I think we?re all glad that she?s coming to play with us in our little sandbox for a while and she?s fortunate to have [Glasberg] creating the character she?s playing,? he said. ?But I look forward to it, absolutely.?

Before that happens, ?NCIS? has another road to travel when the show celebrates its 200th episode.

Set to air on February 7 on CBS, the special episode will take a look at what could have happened if different decisions were made by the characters over the years.

Glasberg said Holly isn?t coming back for the episode, but he smiled and said to watch when a reporter asked if Sasha Alexander (who played Kate) would return for the special.

He also said the 200th episode will feature many eye-catching moments.

?There?s very much an ?It?s A Wonderful Life? quality to this story,? Glasberg said in response to another reporter?s question. ?People should watch this episode multiple times because there?s so much crossing and appearances that happen, that I highly recommend the DVR to be turned on.?

The show boss told Access that no one from ?JAG,? the show which spawned ?NCIS,? would appear.

?That, I can tell you, isn?t happening, but a lot of people that go way back in the history of ?NCIS? [are in the episode],? Glasberg said. ?I?m not going to give you names, but there are heroes as well as villains.?

Nine seasons in, ?NCIS? has battled to the top of the television ratings, and it show no signs of stopping ? even threating to take out ?Gunsmoke?s? record for most years on the air for a dramatic television show (a record shared by ?Law & Order?).

?We?re certainly going to give it a try,? Glasberg said during the TCA panel when asked about taking over the record of 20 years.

?I like the idea of riding a horse if we?re gonna do that,? Harmon chimed in.

?We?ll all ride that horse with you,? Michael Weatherly (Tony DiNozzo) added.

Mophie's ruggedized 6000 mAh Juice Pack Powerstation Pro: it's for argonauts

Did Mophie's 4,000mAh Juice Pack Powerstation not hold enough extra battery power for you, warrior of the road? Well, today you're in luck. The company has just introduced its new Pro variant, packing a massive 6,000mAh of total juice. Like its older brethren, it'll charge mostly any device over USB (even supplying pass-through power when you need to plug it in), and switches between 500 mAh, 1A and 2.1A to preserve its total capacity. The real kicker, however, is its "impact-restistant" casing, made of steel, aluminum and rubber, along with its "water-tight" USB ports. Notably, the Pro is also IP65-certified -- effectively ensuring a venerable level of protection from liquid, shock and dust. No word on pricing or availability just yet, but we're sure many a journeying LTE user will want one to store in their backpack ASAP.

A milestone wedding in Hanover

Far left, Robb Green, the "Marrying Mayor," and best man JeanPaul Kabeya, far right, look on as bride and groom Gail Kruger and Abdoulaye Mahaman share their first kiss as a married couple. This was the 2,500th wedding Green officiated.

(THE EVENING SUN -- CLARE BECKER)

It was a simple ceremony, just how the bride and groom wanted.

On a Saturday afternoon, friends and family gathered at the chapel in Homewood at Plum Creek, where the bride works.

At the front of the altar, they stood -- she, with red flowers in her hands and he, in a red tie to match the color scheme.

And standing just behind them, right between the soon-to-be married couple, was a man with thinning white hair in a dark suit.

"We must give ourselves in love, but we must not give ourselves away," the man said, uttering words he's used before -- 2,499 times.

It was an occasion, special not only to the marrying Hanover couple, Gail Kruger and Abdoulaye Mahaman, but also to the man pronouncing them husband and wife -- the

Marrying Mayor.

It was the 2,500th wedding Robb Green, the former mayor of Jefferson, was officiating.

Since 1996, when a couple he knew asked him to marry them, Green has been officiating weddings. There's no advertising, the 65-year-old said. It's all been word-of-mouth. And by now, reputation, which is how Kruger, formerly of Jefferson, contacted him for her wedding.

But it's what he's become known by. So much so, that on a Saturday afternoon in the lobby of a retirement center, before he was about to officiate a wedding, a woman approached him and mentioned that Green married her son at Lake Marburg.

Green paused, as if trying to remember, and then recalled how the couple actually wanted the designated "wedding spot" at Codorus State Park but it had already been taken.

But that's how Green remembers the weddings: by location. Like the one in a Paradise Township junkyard. Then there was the one done on Christmas Eve in an open field. And of course, the wedding that was performed on top of a Ferris wheel at the Jefferson Carnival.

"I never remember the names," Green said. "But I do always remember the places."

He's cut back on the number of weddings he's performed since he stopped being mayor in 2010, but

Former Jefferson Mayor Robb Green pauses during the ceremony to listen to the wedding singer during Saturday's ceremony at Homewood at Plum Creek. In 2011, Green did 114 weddings.

(THE EVENING SUN -- CLARE BECKER)

he hasn't retired entirely. In 2011, he did 114 weddings. And he'll keep going, he said.

"As long as I'm physically able to perform," he added.

There's something special about officiating each wedding, said Green, who was married by a mayor himself.

"You try to make each day special," Green said.

But now, at this wedding on a winter afternoon, it was time for him to say the phrase -- the words that always bring applause and cheer.

"Abdoulaye, you may kiss the bride," Green said.

The milestone was reached. Number 2,500 was done.

But there was little time to celebrate. At 5 p.m., Green would be performing wedding 2,501 in York. And besides, he was already looking toward 3,000.

"I'm just one of those guys who keep on ticking," he said. "There is no end."

China year of the dragon stamp "too ferocious"

Later this month the world will enter 4710: the year of the dragon, the most ferocious of Chinese zodiac years. Turns out, so is the stamp that ChinaPost created to commemorate it.

Xinhua reports that the new stamp, which features a design based on an 1878 stamp from the Qing dynasty, is causing an uproar on China's microblogging site, Webo. Some comments expressed fear, while others suggested the frightening pose could be seen as an unofficial mascot of the Chinese Foreign Ministry:

"The moment I saw the design of the dragon stamp on newspaper, I was almost scared to death," Zhang Yihe, a noted writer said in her post on weibo.com, China's Twitter-like social networking service and microblogging service provider, on Tuesday.

"The dragon on the stamp looks too ferocious," echoed one post on the Web.

"It is roaring and intimidating," read another.

"This shocking creature on the stamp could well be the emblem of the Foreign Ministry," one blogger wrote. A Peking University student agreed, saying "I suggest we use this dragon stamp as the Foreign Ministry's mascot," according to the Daily Telegraph.

The newspaper reported that dragons "were used as totems by Chinese emperors to signal their imperial power." As NPR reported, 2011's year of the rabbit stamp featured a cuddly bunny that could be mistaken for a Marshmallow Peep, so it's no wonder people are suddenly alarmed.
